Andrew Bradstock, who lives in St Helens and worships in the Haven benefice (and is married to me) has spent the last four years researching and writing the biography of cricketer and clergyman, David Sheppard. We celebrated the completion of this project with a lovely book launch at St Peter’s Church, Seaview at the beginning of November.
The November edition of the Portsmouth Diocesan Magazine, @CofEPortsmouth, has an article about Andrew and the book, Batting for the Poor. Andrew mentions the Haven churches, saying, “We can see that the vicar, Alison Morley, is inspiring the congregations to think deeply about their faith, especially on issues such as the environment. . . . ” He goes on, [David Sheppard] is an inspiring, driven figure, who pioneered today’s philosophy that the Church should work in partnership with others to achieve the transformation of our society.” This philosophy is reflected in Ali’s work throughout the Haven benefice and is also embedded in the in the Eco Church projects we are undertaking, such as our tree planting project in St Helens School.
