This sermon returns to a fundamental condition of our western culture . . . the postmodern condition. There are some who wish to turn back the clock or who pretend that it hasn’t happened, who continue to sell The Truth noisily in the market place of ideas. I think this is a fearful act , this fundamentalism, when in fact the teacher Jesus leads us gently into the wilderness to listen for whispers of stories caught on the wind, and to lightly follow in all humility.
