Imagining a Food Forest in Brading

Recent creative discussions in the St Marys PCC gave the go ahead for returning a piece of land that we own to our control. It is 0.6 acre of land adjacent to the churchyard and fronted by the car park. The PCC heard how the Eco Church launch in Brading would try to see how we could develop this area with a view to it becoming a food forest and/or a community market garden that was a resource for the whole town through the Brading Community Partnership, school and church.

Our Secretary’s sister is involved in a lovely community project in Kent that has made this beautiful short video. It is inspiring…

It all begins in the new year with ‘NO dig Sunday’ (In the past Plough Sunday!) on January 12th at 9.30am, when we will begin our growing with a few beds of edibles for people to freely pick planted outside our hall.

Watch this space as there is a great team building and ideas aplenty.
